Industry welcomed today the announcement by Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Ed Davey, of an extra £100m of Government funding for household energy efficiency improvements this winter.
Dave Sowden, Chief Executive of the Sustainable Energy Association, said:
“This is a much-needed boost for households and industry for the forthcoming winter, coming just as the weather turns cooler and consumers start to fire up their heating systems. We look forward to working with Government over the next month on the fine details of how this money will be deployed to best effect for householders and industry alike”.
“The energy efficiency sector has borne the brunt of short-term policy changes over the past year, with thousands of job losses put down to uncertainty in policy. Whilst this announcement will provide a much-needed boost, we urgently need an ambitious long-term strategy for Energy in Buildings to stabilise the sector and provide a long-term framework for investment”.
