Following Dave Sowden’s return to the Sustainable Energy Association on an Interim basis at the beginning of 2024, we are pleased to announce that the Executive Committee has agreed to appoint him on a permanent basis.

Dave Sowden is the SEA’s original founder. The news provides some much needed certainty for the sector and affords the SEA strong leadership and elevated influence among key stakeholders as we work to deliver a more sustainable building stock.

SEA President, Lord Ravensdale, and Russell Dean, SEA Vice President and Residential Product Group Director for Mitsubishi Electric, said:

“We’re delighted to see Dave Sowden, the SEA’s original founder, confirmed as permanent CEO following his return last year on an interim basis.

“In a short period, Dave has helped the Executive Committee establish a clearer vision for the SEA, returning it to a position of policy thought leadership. He has overseen growth of the membership across all categories, continued to champion innovators and their ability to supply to funded sectors such as social housing, led a new policy development process on Smart Energy and has strengthened our links with national and devolved Government, and across a range of like-minded stakeholders.

“We look forward to working with Dave, and our diverse membership, to continue delivering policy thought leadership for energy in the built environment, advocacy and stakeholder engagement to provide lower cost, more secure and lower carbon means of heating and powering Britain’s homes and buildings.”
