Ben Copson

Head of Policy

Ben is the Head of Policy at the Sustainable Energy Association (SEA), leading the team in developing its policy positions, consultation responses, carrying out research and writing policy papers to champion the views of the SEA. Additional roles include advising and supporting members, collaborating with policy makers, representing the SEA on external working groups, and advocating for the development of net zero buildings that are fit for the future.

During his time at the SEA, Ben has championed work on a technology-agnostic approach to heat and buildings policy. This has brought together dozens of businesses and associations from across the sector to advocate for a fairer policy framework that delivers the best outcomes for people and buildings. He has also helped to strengthen the SEA’s advocacy within Wales, working with key stakeholders across Welsh Government and the industry.

Previously, Ben graduated with BSc (Hons) in Environmental Geography from Cardiff University, where he worked as a Student Ambassador, and studied the mechanisms of climate change, the physics and evolution of the natural world, past and present, and environmental policy.
