Sustainable Energy Association appoints Lord Ravensdale as President

The Sustainable Energy Association is delighted to announce its Annual General Meeting unilaterally elected Lord Ravensdale as its new President, effective from 11th September 2024.

Lord Ravensdale is a British hereditary peer and has sat as an independent crossbencher in the House of Lords since 2019. He is also an active member of the Environmental and Climate Change Committee.

Lord Ravensdale succeeds Lord Best, who has supported the association’s vision over the past seven years.

“On behalf of the Executive Committee and all SEA members, I would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Lord Best for his many years of service as President and wise Counsel to the SEA, and I am delighted to welcome Lord Ravensdale as his successor.

“Lord Ravensdale’s background in both the House of Lords and his business activities makes him an ideal candidate to take over the SEA presidency.

“This change comes at a pivotal time for the sector. A new government, open to new ideas, provides a timely opportunity for the SEA’s fresh thinking on new policy innovations for energy efficiency incentives and heat decarbonisation to gain support. There are considerable opportunities for the sector to help the Government find a cost-effective and consumer-friendly way to accelerate progress towards net zero and eradicate fuel poverty. The strong, evidence-based, technology-agnostic advocacy of the SEA is a critical component in the industry’s dialogue with Government to achieve both.

“Our vision is for all buildings to be energy efficient, net zero carbon, warm and healthy, and we are pleased to welcome a new president who shares a passion for achieving this vision by promoting a holistic, technology agnostic approach.”

“I am honoured to take on the role of President of the Sustainable Energy Association and to work alongside such a dedicated team. The SEA has been at the forefront of policy development surrounding housing, buildings and energy and I look forward to building on its successes and working towards a more sustainable future.”
